I’m Charlie Trumpess, a military historian and author specialising in British Army history during the Second World War, with a particular focus on the Guards regiments, armoured warfare, and the origins of British special forces.

As an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society with a Master’s degree in Military History (Research), my work explores how elite military units adapted to modern warfare, and how the culture of the Brigade of Guards helped shape the SAS, Commandos, Parachute Regiment, and Long Range Desert Group (LRDG).
