My photography is spontaneous. I attempt to capture the inspiration of the moment with the tools at hand. My father and grandfather were photographers that understood the complexity of exposure. My nephew studied photography. I admired their expertise as they mixed the chemicals necessary to develop their negatives and prints. Their patience on the enlarger was rewarded with excellence. My family's Christmas cards were unique. My grandfather Diver's photos are here on Flickr as part of the Cornell University Library collections.

The ability to compose a photograph was passed to me without the patience needed to deal with exposure meters and the other tools of the trade that mark the serious hobbyist and the professional photographer. I've been very lucky to produce some much-admired images despite my obvious limitations. Brownie Instamatics and other point-and-shoot cameras in some ways prepared me for the era of phone photography that is upon us today.

Safe to say there will be no "Ansel Adams" moments as my photos are reviewed! But there may be the occasional pleasant surprise.
