I started flickring, and bought a DSLR, at about the same time (spring 09). I'd been snapping away merrily for years, but recently I've been wanting to take better pictures - not least because photography (or at any rate the taking of photographs) is one of the few creative things that can still be slotted in around the rest of life. I'm continually impressed and inspired by the quality of so many of the photographs on flickr, as well as the sense of community and delightful and supportive environment. I am slowly, slowly, expanding my (still pretty minimal) technical knowledge, and having a huge amount of fun in the process. The name, BTW, is a Cocteau Twins song that I thought was nicely photographically appropriate.
I really enjoy the sharing aspect of flickr, and I have many contacts whom I really value. But just occasionally someone lists me as a contact but has no photos that are available to me. If you do that, I'll block you. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but flickr to me is about sharing.
