Once a popular childrens TV celebrity, Zippy had struggled to come to terms with 'normal' life after Rainbow was axed following the scandal of Jefferey getting caught being sucked off by Jane whilst rimming Freddy.

George decided to set up a bondage dungeon with Rod and Bungle was culled and turned into a jumper for Giles Brandreth to wear on the One Show.

Zippy plodded on with meaningless jobs for a few years until a chance meeting in a local Wetherspoons with what looked like a random sex offender led him to the world of bus preservation.

And so the story continues..............

I don't just take photos of transport related subjects, but thats what I like so thats what the majority of photos are of!

My interest in transport stems back into being a child and my first camera was a little compact thing [Hanimex?] when I was nine. Needless to say the results weren't too good but the seeds had been sown.

Todays equipment is a Canon Eos 80D SLR with a little Olympus compact which lives in my work coat pocket and an iPhone 13 ProMax for just about everything else. My other valuable piece of kit is my Epson Perfection 3170 scanner for the older negatives and slides.

The scans of older stuff that appears are a mixture of my own photos and some that have been made available to me by friends who don't have scanning facilities themselves. I also have a number that have come from the likes of eBay and other sources [with full copywrite] of the period I remember as a child but was too young to have a camera.

Occasionally, I have purchased slides etc that the seller has stated that full rights go with the slide/negative but they wish to retain a digital copy for themselves. Every now and again a duplicate image will appear on someone else's Flickr stream and it will usually be from the person I purchased said item from. I will never knowingly upload something that doesn't have copywrite with it. However, if you see something to query just drop me a PM and I'll either remove or credit depending on your preference.

I now rarely give pictures out for free now. I have had requests for books, personal requests etc and was forthcoming initially but I got tired of being taken advantage of. I also don't like peope favouriting a shed load of photos but not commenting on any or having anything available of your own.......I am not your personal photo library!

Another pet hate is the good old 'Post 1 - Comment 3' etc groups. If you feel that my photo is worthy of your group then I'll add it, but I'm sure as hell not going to comment on three others just because I've been told that I have to!!! Also don't post the glitzy 'Seen in X group' stuff with the glittering clipart as I find it tacky!

Most of my uploads do come with a description, sometimes with a hint of sarcasm and humour. However don't lets get too serious as this is only a hobby. If I get something wrong in a description forgive me, I am only a stuffed puppet trying to find work since I got shaffted by Bungle and George :-)

Zippy.

My son also now has his own Flickr account. Check it out here

****Please Note****

As of now, and unless I know who you are, I will no longer be accepting contact requests from persons who have "nothing available" to me. In fact, I will be deleting existing contacts who fall in to that category. At the same time, original size photos from my transport sets will no longer be available to download, and I will no longer fulfill requests for copies of individual photographs.

Another gripe is the 'Serial Faver'. I know that it should be flattering when someone appreciates my work but I don't 'get' how someone can fave forty plus photos in one sitting. If you're going to add a good number of faves then at least have the common decency to comment why, I know I do!

As of now, people that constantly add everything I upload as a favourite that isn't known to me personally or has nothing on their stream will be blocked. I know this sounds draconian but all too often I'm now missing genuine queries and comments on photos due to my first three pages being X added your photo as a favourite........ You have been warned!

Chris reckons I've inspired him, well it works both ways. Chris’s photos are a joy to behold, especially for me as they reflect many of my own interests in the everyday things that go on about us. Sharp, crisp, well composed shots of buses, sports, flowers, birds, street lights, planes, trains, etc from the past to the present. It’s all there, you couldn’t ask for more; in … Read more

Sharp, crisp, well composed shots of buses, sports, flowers, birds, street lights, planes, trains, etc from the past to the present. It’s all there, you couldn’t ask for more; in fact you’re spoilt for choice. It’s through people like Chris that make Flickr so worth while, I for one look forward to seeing more of his superb work. Many thanks Chris. Claire

Looking at Chris's photos they bring back memories. Why? Looking at Chris's photos they bring back memories. Why? Because I remember the good old days of when buses in and around Greater Manchester used to be Greater Manchester Transport and GM Buses (Sadly I wasn't around when they were SELNEC, unlike my Flickr alter-ego) and wish I could travel back in time...before Stagecoach and Arriva took them over and "nationalised" everything! Keep up the good work! Mikey
