The Old Guard is the U.S. Army's official ceremonial unit and escort to the President. The Regiment conducts military ceremonies across the National Capital Region, maintains the 24-hour vigil at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, provides military funeral honors at Arlington National Cemetery, and remains prepared to support contingency operations in defense of the National Capital Region.

 

Established in 1784, the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment is the Army's oldest active-duty infantry regiment and has proudly served the Nation for more than 240 years.
