I have been photographing landscapes since I was in high school, 1978. Growing up the son of a Geologist, in the great state of Idaho, I grew to love the way the sun illuminates the magnificent granite monoliths of the Idaho Batholiths.

In 1982, during spring break of my senior year in high school, my best friend and I set off for Carmel California to meet our idol in photography, the great Ansel Adams. Ansel Adams and his wife welcomed us into their home, and gave us the tour of a lifetime. Ansel brought his images that we had only seen in books, to life. He shared the art of visualization, and reminded us that a picture is three dimensional until you capture the image on film. To this day, I can feel his teachings every time I wait for a drifting cloud to arrive.
