Could hybrid cars have a profound impact on global society, leading to significant shifts in lifestyle and generational behavior? And what would our lives be like if everyone drove hybrid cars?
The Hybrid Debate encourages people to consider how their choice of car affects the world we live in and imagine how mass acceptance of hybrid technology could influence many other aspects of our lives.
The aim is to encourage informed analysis and public debate amongst the advocates and the sceptics of this new technology.
Writers and experts in areas ranging from urban planning to the economy have been asked to kick start the debate by imagining a hybrid future and the implications in their specialist subject. The areas under discussion are the environment; urban planning; families and lifestyle; politics and energy and business and the economy
Initial contributors include Joanna Yarrow - Author of “1001 Ways You Can Save the Planet”; Chris Vernon – Editor of the European edition of The Oil Drum; Richard Scase - One of the world's leading business forecasters and author of “Global Remix”; Roger Kemp – University Professor and expert on the environmental impact of electricity production and use; Neil Spiller - Professor of Architectural and Digital Theory and author of “Visionary Architecture”.
Other specialist contributors will be added throughout the debate and their writings published on the hybrid debate blog as well as in their own personal blogs.
The real debate however will happen within the wider blogging community who are encouraged to take part in this open, honest discussion by adding their comments on the site and discussing ideas in their own blogs. Bloggers who tag their posts will be linked to from The Hybrid Debate with the title of their post appearing on the site’s homepage.
