I'm Liz, a lifelong Houstonian and fledgling historian. For the past few years i've been researching places - forgotten, abandoned, well-kept, famous and infamous, a few seedy and a few swanky - all of them here in town, or were before demolition.
As much as I would love to, I don't own a fancy camera and I really have no photography skills. All of the pictures here were taken with a little point + shoot digital out of a car window while my husband was driving. Despite this, I hope that whoever visits will enjoy them.
Dishes and Antiques:
The Atomic Astronaut began life as Sexy Astronaut Party, a term that my husband and I use to describe swanky, mid-century homes and items.
We live in a 1960s suburb in Clear Lake City, originally constructed for employees of the newly-built Johnson Space Center. Our family includes Karl the Rescued Dachsador and Snuffy, our lovable curmudgeon of a cat, as well as two lovely kiddos.
Interests include Houston history and architecture, vintage electronics and kitchenware, mid-century modern anything and the pursuit of all things old, interesting and unique.
