The Amateurs owe their humble beginnings to performing with Robert Plant on his 2005 Tsunami Relief project, playing shows around the Midlands raising money for the charity.
The West Midlands based band are childhood friends. They recorded their first EP in 2006 when they reached the final of Emergenza Unsigned Festival at The Astoria 2 in London.
In 2007 the band returned to the studio, this time with Jon Cotton (Scott Matthews, Passing Stranger 2005) to record 'Shoot Me Now', a song that was named winner of Best Unsigned Song 2007 on Kerrang! Radio.
The band went on to support The Guillemots.
2008 saw The Amateurs play a standout set at Guilfest, do a sponsorship agreement with Jagermeister, support Cage The Elephant at Festibull and become Kerrang! Radio DJ Lozs hot tip for 2009.
"The Amateurs are easily one of the most talented bands that we've supported on Kerrang Radio's Unsigned Show over the past few years and the new EP is testament to that fact.
The 3 tracks featured deftly show what the band are capable of and why they have such an established following here in the Midlands. Track 1 'Homesick' is a song that just oozes commercial success and The Amateurs are surely now set to move it on to the next level."
