Most of all I enjoy travel. Everything else is like living without air. I live for adventure. I shoot a bit of everything. I shoot film. I have too much gear. I have been published in National Geographic Traveler, the Progressive and in an Amnesty International publication. I also have work for sale on Getty Images. I'm married to my great wife and have three spectacular children.

Nate is living proof that you can be a hard core gearhead AND a damn fine photographer at the same time. Nate is living proof that you can be a hard core gearhead AND a damn fine photographer at the same time. Nate's list of current and previously owned photographic equipment is amazing - he has used and continues to use a very impressive and expensive range of gear. And he takes amazing photos with all of it. But such is his skill as a photographer that I'm 100% certain he could take award winning photos with a pinhole camera made from a soggy old shoebox dug out of the trash while dumpster diving in the slums of Rangoon. And it's the amazing quality of Nate's photos, taken with this amazing variety of gear, that keeps me coming back regularly to check out his photostream. So that first sentence I wrote should really be reversed, because although he's a confirmed gearhead, with Nate the photos come first. So ... Nate is living proof that you can be a damn fine photographer AND a hard core gearhead at the same time.

First I thought Nathan works for a camera shop because of his amazing range of photography equipment! He has a great eye for photography and especially his film portraits are just amazing.

Forever curious, fierce and forgiving - Just ask his Nikon SP! His vast knowledge in and passion for film photography equally matches his tireless drive to venture the world. Every time he comes in town I psych myself up mentally beforehand because it will be time for non-stop action. His enthusiasm for life and people is beautifully shown in his photos, through which I live my life vicariously... He will tell u what he thinks, knows and feels honestly and intelligently and his stories are unique, entertaining, and truly adventurous, perfectly befitting his pseudonym. A great photo walk companion and a drinking buddy - it's hard to ask for more. And I'm dying to see firsthand his little museum of various types of film and camera equipment in Okinawa. And thank you for publicly acknowledging my sense of humor! My lifelong effort to be a clown has been recognized by you, which makes it official on the record. My mission in life is complete and I will die happily. The schlang exhibition, of course, will be in your honor.

i meant to write this after meeting Nate for the first time almost 2 years ago but better late than never. Nate, The Gentle Giant as I like to call him, has a vast knowledge of cameras & films of all sorts, most of which is first hand, incredible! He has an uncanny ability to open people's hearts when shooting their portrait candidly on the street and an even more incomprehensible ability to turn their reaction of aversion to embrace. Nate "Venture" is an understatement, i don't know if i will ever meet somebody who embodies the word as fully as he does in my lifetime. His quote of "if they get angry I take their picture again" is what keeps me shooting, pure genius. A great photographer and greater friend

Nate says he shoots Urban Decay, yet the man lives and breathes adventure - or danger, depending on who you ask. I've had the pleasure of adventuring with Nate on a few occasions and I can honestly say that the man is an even better friend than photographer - which is to say something of someone who would be at home on the pages of National Geographic. Though our styles couldn't be more disparate, I have learned much from Nate and continue to draw inspiration from him on a daily basis. I also know he's the man to turn to when I need a good laugh; whether offering a team of tea field laborers half a paycheck to pose for us or dodging the dodgiest Russian hookers in the world in Busan, Nate knows how to have a good time. Good friend. Great photographer.

nate's flickr is full of inspiration material, imo same league as nat geo. nate shows it's not the gears but actually the photographer as he is constantly traveling to really interesting place and bringing back not just photos but an experience to anyone that looks at his photos. Secondly, nate is just damn plain awesome shooting RF bodies, i just cannot see how anyone that is human can get such consistant and impressive result shooting a full manual body like an M3. simply amazing.

I don't subscribe to National Geographic, I just watch Nate's stream. I find myself viewing Nate`s photos more and more often ... Excellent documentary / travel / PJ photography. The photos about Okinawa and the people there should be published in National Geographic, IMHO. Keep up the excellent work !!
