"There is nothing in this world without its decisive moment": Henri Cartier-Bresson.
"Photos are made, not taken" : Ansel Adams.
"A photograph which cannot arouse interest in anyone has missed its purpose and is valueless, no matter how technically well it may be executed": Andreas Feininger.
"If I had to give just one single piece of advice to young Digital Photographers,(as an analogue/digital retired Professional Photographer with a 44+ year career), it would be this: Photography is like health.PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE! Try, as much as possible, to solve/prevent technical/visual problems BEFORE taking a photo, rather than trying afterwards to correct/fix problems in post-production, regardless of the marvelous modern photoshop technology.": Thanassis Fournarakos
I am Greek, born in 1946. My name is Thanassis Fournarakos (Θανασης Φουρναρακος).
I was a Law student in the 1960's in Greece, and moved to America in 1970. I studied Photography in New York City at the Germain School of Photography and the School of Visual Arts. I worked in the advertising field for several years, before returning to Greece and opening my own studio. I covered just about every field of Photography (Fashion, Sports, Still Life, Press etc) in my 44+ year career. I retired on December 20th, 2011, and am now enjoying my retirement taking pictures whenever I have the opportunity to get out for short excursions!
I have been amazed at the wonderful work by fellow photographers who share on flickr and hope that others enjoy browsing through my Photostream as well!!!

When I view an image I tend to look for the detail, clarity, color, depth and other elements associated with photography. Another thing that I like to look at is the description be it exposure, processing, season taken and important to me is the history if it is architecture or just the photographers surrounding. Thanassis not only brings a superb image to the table but a vast history lesson to accompany that image. History to me is a lesson that delves into our past and you can sense the pride through his images of Greece. Thanassis has a fantastic eye for his captures and the subject matter is always deep and beautiful with all the gorgeous surroundings that encompass him and he takes full advantage of. Another tid bit we share is he was a native N.Y.er and there is pride there as well. Thanassis is not only a trully gifted photographer but also a fantastic Historian and more importantly a great friend who gives of himself to others on flikcr so prepare yourself for a journey back in time to Greece through thanassis's eyes! Συγχαρητηρια, φιλε μου, Θαναση! Sinharitiria, file mou, Thanassis
