Before I start with the profile proper: I am only usually online (or at least with time to come on Flickr) Mon-Fri, weekends are quite busy. Consequently if you comment or ask questions it may take a day or three before I answer. I am more likely to see a Flickrmail, should anything be that important.
Please be patient as I tag and add explanations etc to pictures over the next week or so. I have today (April 16th, 2012) uploaded a vast amount of pictures and it will take a little time to get them organized. I have several sets, these will be expanded as soon as I update to "Pro" membership, probably next week sometime, once I get some organization to the pictures already here.
Also, many more details added to this profile on April 16th, 2012.
Note on photo quality: I am most certainly NOT anything even remotely close to being a "photographer". Many of these pictures are taken from 110 size negatives, or slide negs, as I have very few printed pictures to scan. Please excuse the loss of resolution and some colour variances from natural colour. I did the best I could at the time, and I just do not have the time to photoshop everything to get them looking good. They are mostly meant to be memory triggers rather than any type of "art form".
My original professional “training” was with the National Health Service, where I became a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician, well before computers took over for most of the testing work, so we used olde worlde equipment to do things like blood counts, using a microscope. I guess about the last thing I could do now would be to walk back into that role as everything is now so technical.
Following that I went into car sales, which had really been my main interest all along. I knew almost every car dealer in Doncaster during the 1960’s and 1970’s. In those days, could tell you every small details about any common vehicle, unfortunately my old brain is now fried enough for me to have to try really hard to remember some of those details, so I am always happy to be corrected and to “re-learn” those facts. If you were around car sales in Doncaster back then please contact me.
Later, I was service station manager, car sales manager and contract hire fleet manager for a now defunct company which which transformed into commercial vehicle bodywork and the manufacture of semi-trailers, all of that still in the Doncaster area. That got to the stage where I was European sales director, and I was spending less and less time at home, so took a complete career change and went to work for Yorkshire Traction Company.
Initially I was driving service buses, even started off on the crewing roster before moving to the OMO one, then part time coaching, finally became a “Traffic Clerk”, following privatization, which was their latest name for “Inspector”, but avoided them paying the same wages and benefits. I worked at Yorkshire Traction (Doncaster Depot) for about 10 years during the 80's. I then worked at Wilfreda Beehive (Adwick-Le-Street) for about 5 years before having to retire from PSV driving due to heart attack while on duty.
My other major solo leisure interest is commercial aircraft, especially the logistics of that industry. My interest in music is a passing one, nothing serious, I prefer music from the 60’s and 70’s (oldies), and also what I refer to as “classic country”, basically from that same era. My only real connection to “serious” music is my love of The Gaither Band, although I am not religious by nature.
I enjoy anything to do with helping kids, especially either those who are at risk or otherwise finding life hard. I am a firm believer in equality, but, let me say, TRUE equality, not positive loaded in any direction.
I am also a very strong supporter of law enforcement, and of the military, although I never served in the forces thanks to the RAF refusing to sign me up several decades ago because I couldn't pass their colour blindness test.
If you wish to download the pictures to help with your own memory book, or other personal use, please do so, no further permission is needed.
However, any use for commercial purposes does REQUIRE permission before use, and that includes personal use on uploading to sites such as Flickr. PLEASE adhere to this so I can leave my pictures open for all to enjoy. Other Flickrites, please note: I do sometimes download pictures for my own memories etc, but I will NOT use them for any other purpose, including reposting here or elsewhere on internet picture sites etc.
If you want to know more about any of the above, do please contact me through Flickrmail.
