Along with our website, we have a few other outlets:

the ingoing

ashley's personal blog

traci's personal blog

Absolutely first and foremost, we love mail, but don't often get flickr mail. So please, if you'd like to send a note for any reason, please send it to our personal mail: tetheredtothesun@gmail.com

Now.

We're two people. We're neighbors. We sometimes pretend we're sisters or cousins, depending on how dark it is.

We theorize a lot, visit strangers often, like good words in any language. When we have the wide range of abilities (not so often these days, alas) we love to travel and sleep on random living room floors. We cook well in exchange for a pillow. We like to host visitors as well, but you must love walking in the park, two blocks from our house(s).

Good conversation is one of the best things in life. That and lushfulness.

Lately we shoot all film, but we haven't always and probably won't always (money being the predominant operative word, circumstance second). Mostly, we just enjoy creating images of any sort. And words. Especially the combination of the two.

And if you've kept us around long enough to remember when flickr deleted our previous site, thank you. Know that this time around we're saving all the writing.

We also might flop. Our photos might flop. Our writing may be non-existent. And we're okay with all of that.

We still like dirt in strange places, don't believe you've had enough until it's all over you and enjoy secrets that you want us to keep for fun, not necessity.

You make me hate and love photography. Sometimes it is just too much to take. Like love.

anyone that has known the un-cloistered thrill of seeing true erotic imagery in their youth - contained in the back shelves of public bookstores... welcome back

Always amazing photostream. I love the way it slowly unfolds like a surreal, dark and sexy dream. Good stuff, (and I'm jealous of all the fun that they seem to be having.)

March 25, 2009

at once, they'll show you everything and tell you nothing. without a doubt, one of the more intriguing streams on flickr.

This isn't a portfolio. It's a portal into a realm where beauty bruises, intimacy is the official religion, and human beings live not on oxygen and hydrogen but saturation and grain. Enter if you must, for it will pain you to leave.

Rose and Olive do the most important thing photographers can do. They document and capture people in the moment. A person is never the same from one moment to the next, and eventually the chance to capture something so fleeting will be lost forever. Rose and Olive capture an essence of humanity, moments unique and never to be duplicated, epic in stature compared even to the highest-grossing big budget sequels Hollywood can spew out. There's nothing like their photos, and there never will be now or ever again.

Your work is amazing, so truthful and intimate. Remind me the intensity of Nan Goldin’s work.

""The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself." Henry Miller In each of Rose's and Olive's photographs, there is a blade of grass - a shadow, a reflection, and within each of these elements lies a mystery waiting to be explored, experienced, lived. In their images exists a poetic union between realism and surrealism. A duality that is difficult to explain, let alone capture through a camera, but they can, and so eloquently do. Time really does stand still, and they gladly share that moment with us.
