Now for the profile proper......

Just a simple retired guy, having been involved with Model Railways and Model Engineering in the UK or South Africa since the mid-60's.

Interested in LMS in particular, and like many fell for the Settle and Carlisle Railway (there's a pun there, in the UK we talk of fell countryside!). That took me to the constituents of the LMS, starting with the Midland railway, which introduced me to the first UK Pullman coaches, which of course were clerestories.

As a sideline, brought up in London, so LT always an interest - before privatisation. The vehicles lost their style once that happened, and everyone forgot they were built for narrow London streets, and therefore built to a standard of 7ft 6ins wide, which of course was part of their charm! Nowadays exciting to see some of the few restored LT vehicles living here and running around the City of York.

Oh well, moving with the times always a problem (for me, that is!).

And, there are always other interests too, as you will see from the photostream!
