Hey hey!

Hello you, my name is Matteo and I live in Rome, Italy. Just like most of us i'm an amateur photographer who just likes to have an online portfolio and share his pictures with the others.

I've been flirting with photography since long, but it only went beyond a crush when I met my first digital reflex, the Canon 350d. Since then this hobby is taking quite a bit of my time and attention, as I try to reach an acceptable standard.

I think that photography is not only about representing reality or enhancing our memory, but it's also about recognizing, exctracting and, sometimes, shaping beauty. Because Beauty, in the end, is all that matters. And since we are persons equipped with a brain and feelings, we better see beauty where we see a meaning, a message, for subtle as it may be... something that we may not understand, but that we unconsciously perceive. I'd call this message the soul of the picture, and every great photo has it.

Anyway, this wasn't intended to be a philosophical blabing, hehe, sorry about that. The subjects I do prefer are reportage style and travel pictures, portraits and sometimes landscapes and such. The only genre I'm sceptical about is the marcro photo, which i practice once in a blue moon. My mate and I try to travel the world as much as we can and you can bet that there's always a camera with us ;)
