Hi! I have been collecting old photographs for some time now and I want to provide others interested in the same subject area the opportunity to take a peek at my collection. The original versions of the photographs are kept in my own private photo archive. Photos are mostly from Finland, even though there are some from for example Sweden and Russia, too.

I'm very interested in history so I always try to find out who the persons in the photos were, where they lived, etc. Sometimes this is surprisingly easy, but in most cases it is impossible - quite often photographs do not have any information on them. If you happen to identify some anonymous person in my photo collection or if you know something else about them please let me know!

I have made colored versions of some of the photographs. I have not colored the pictures, because I would consider black and white pictures somehow boring - on the contrary, I think photos are most often better just like that - but my aim has been to try to awaken those persons to life. A world in which they lived long ago was full of colors in the same way as it is now, and it's fun to think about how they might have seen each other and the world around them in those days.
