I have been an enthusiastic photographer ever since I was little. On a family trip to Yellowstone, my dad gave me a point-and-shoot camera with four rolls of film. They were gone before we even got there. (I think that was a sign.) Today, I enjoy revisiting the many places across the west and capturing new moments to share.

As a classically-trained musician (I’m a trombone player), I can’t help but take a musical approach to photography. Becoming fluent with camera technique isn’t that different from practicing scales. You strive to make your instrument an extension of yourself. Both photography and music have a multitude to styles to master, and make your own. Both are composed with contrast, intensity, texture, color, and form. And ultimately (and most importantly), both are about your audience.

I also have a passion for animals. It was my two dogs who inspired me to finally make the jump to an SLR. I love capturing their personalities and unique perspectives. Whether it's the dog park or the zoo, a split-second frozen in time or an every-day habit, each animal has a story to tell.

My photography goals going forward are to find unique views of iconic destinations, discover lesser-known places to capture, and help more animals find their voice through the viewfinder.
