Tanye didn't want to try out for the honor guard, or the color guard, as he was much more unique in his approach to social endeavors. Instead his junior year he created a unique group of soup affectionados and created the Spoon Guard. No, they did not march around in synchronous order with spoons above their forehead to the sounds of a 12 piece band. Instead they played the theme song to every Food Network TV show and ate freshly prepared soups from local restaurants, providing critiques, advice and awards. As the owner of a small soup kitchen called Blow First, I was nervous that my famous ladybug chowder would not please this group of liquid lunch connoisseurs. But Tanye and the others were delighted in my spotted mix of vegetables, truffles and ladybug fillets. After winning "most unique" I spoke with Tanye for a great while after this wednesdays contest. He told me his approach to soup was the the same for photography. Unique, bold and at times questionable. But that is what made people stop and look a little longer. Tanye was good people and he has a plaque and a soup named after him in Blow First. Stop by for a free sample.
