First caught the travelbug in 1993, I have since been getting into lots of trouble, including: Detained in Bulgaria, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine & the rebel state of Transdniestria; Mugged in St Petersburg, Jerusalem & Romania; Scuffling with a gangster in Cyprus & ex-child soldiers in Liberia; Survived road accidents in Albania & riots in Burkina Faso. Up to Nov 2010, I have been to 196 countries and territories. Always a fanatical nomad, occasional hedonist, sometime a pseudo-philosopher, New Age romantic, occasional capitalist and aspiring Renaissance man. Freedom and secular humanism are governing principles of my life.
