Drag to set position!
My photographic interests cross a broad spectrum of genres, with nature and landscape leading the way. However, with over 40 years experience with engineering and management in aerospace, environmental projects, and higher education, the technology and built environment also hold a keen interest for me. Since retiring from the University of Michigan in 2018, I now have time to pursue my passion for photography and explore the wonders of our world from a different point of view.
Moving up from film imaging into today's digital world, my education has been through books (old school style), and more recently on-line videos (I highly recommend YouTube for learning and fine tuning new techniques) as well as some great photography classes at the Toledo Museum of Art and local colleges. I tend to go where the inspiration carries me on what I shoot.
Being an engineer I love all things mechanical, something I attribute to my dad, and the challenge of learning new techniques such as capturing speeding aircraft, or the moon and stars, or B/W conversion. There are lots of great YouTube videos on learning new things. My USAF background still tugs me toward the military side. And then there is the beauty and wonder of nature in all its forms, which I believe is inherited from my grandfather.
