I have been taking photographs since 1970, back then with 35mm film. An important aspect of this has always been recording the family growing up and significant events, which continues to this day. Holidays too, reminders of where we had been. In those days of film my images would be the only record of these occasions, but it's a very different world today. Image capturing is now omnipresent, everyone has a phone, everyone has a camera, so recording the family growing up, family events, pets being cute - it belongs to everyone and everyone does it.
So why buy an expensive camera and be an 'enthusiast'? It's because we enjoy it! - the capturing, the processing and the posting, and if you're on Flickr and reading this then you enjoy it too!
