Until about three years ago I was a rather sporadic snapper as I was always too stingy with film to really get much beyond a few holiday snaps. Then I embraced the digital revolution. Freed from the tyranny of my own miserliness I started shooting with abandon and among the gigabytes of dross emerged a few decent photographs.
Then I discovered Flickr. At first I just shared put up a few photos to show to friends but then I got my first couple of comments. Like so many people I guess I got drawn in by the idea of feedback and nice comments and started posting to voting and commenting groups and seeking out more pictures to post. A few of my photos even reached the heady heights of explore. Addictive though the comment and fave chasing was, I was clearly no match for the true explore junkies so gave up on that but by then I had discovered that I really enjoyed taking photographs, upgraded to a digital SLR and learnt a lot more about photography along the way.
Since upgrading to a Canon 350D I have enjoyed trying to get better and experimenting.
In addition, I have experimented with film cameras . I have finished a roll of Velvia on my Dad's old (1960s) Pentax S1a 35mm SLR, run a roll of colour-neg film through a damaged Yamato Pal Jr. of similar vintage and experimented with cross-processed slide film. Currently working my way through my first ever black and white film.

I saw one of these maps on my friend Tom's profile and since many of my photos are from travel/holidays thought I'd pop mine up here too.
