Rob’s artistic inspiration is generated from his deep respect and reverence for nature. Weathered rocks, the churning ocean and the deep and changing colors in the horizon fascinate him. The influences of great, old trees and small, quiet flowers as well as the vast and expanding galaxy can be found in his work. Spirals and circles are also reoccurring themes, demonstrating the cycles of life and the movement in nature. Rob’s artistic process fluctuates between intense and powerful energy much like the grand finale at a fireworks display and the quiet and meditative feel of a Zen Garden.
Symmetry. It is all around us. The body of a soaring dragonfly, a perfect falling snowflake, the human body. Nature is continually seeking balance. Soil is richer after a fire. Symmetrical wings are better for flight. A nautilus must grow in perfect proportion to house its growing occupant. Great thinkers like DaVinci and Fibonacci have marveled at the wonders of symmetry and the mathematical presence found in nature throughout the ages.
Upon first glance, our work may not seem symmetrical. Look closely. See the perfection in the natural objects. Notice the space between them. Think about the balance found in the arrangements and numbers. In our busy and often chaotic technological world, take a moment to breathe in the peacefulness and tranquility found around us in nature.
