I'm very much an amateur photog, coming to it from a graphic design background (long dormant--got side-tracked into lit studies for many years), and these days I'm doing most of my photo work either prepping pics as the basis for digital paintings (see my Pet Portraits set or my website, www.wildeaboutanimals.com) OR playing with travel pics that have been sitting around for ages, waiting to have some sort of form imposed on them. I love working in Photoshop and Painter, largely because I'm drawn to rather stylized images, but the more I look at some of the brilliant photos on flickr, the more inspired I am to do more straight photography, to recover my "eye" and spend less time hiding behind technical manipulations. I'm on my way, tho--just bought a purse big enough to have my camera with me at all times, and we all know that's the first step...
