Swanica is a ceramic artist and specialized in low-fire ceramics. She loves colors.
Swanica finds a spiritual connection with Mother Earth and meaning of life, and wants to contribute to the restoration, balance and harmony of our earth through the creation of ceramic art. The direct contact with the clay and the corresponding sense of freedom and streaming of energy during the definition and creation of the form are essential parts of her work.
She is mostly known for her Horsehair Raku works. You take out a bisque piece at 600 Celsius and put on Horsehair what burns into the work as well as ferric chloride which gives the orange-brown color.
My "Kamakura-Red Ware" is inspired by the texture and red pigmented color of the Kamakura Bori woodcarving art. The red color symbolize love, passion and strength. Carving allowed me to create this unique style. Living in Kamakura with its rich culture and its long heritage of wood.
Lately (2020), she rediscovered her love for the colored slips and engraving.
Her artworks express the elegance and harmony of nature through play with form, the abstract designs, the interplay between the line and form, and the colorful surface.
Enjoy her works.
