Yes I'm still a geeky artist-inventor. That has not changed since I last updated this. It is time to elaborate on myself a bit more though.

I have many interests. Too many some might say. Some might even call them "obsessions". They include abstract math, numerous sciences, art (both consumer and producer), writing, philosophy, stop-motion animation, cinematography, fine food, molecular gastronomy, gardening, politics, mixed martial arts, Tae Kwon Do, analysis and BI, audio production and recording, robotics, artificial intelligence, and on and on and on. (As of my last count, I had more than 50.) Photography is one of these. And, similar to other forms of art I explore, such as painting, sculpture, drawing, it has the potential to span all of my interests, my experiences, insights, discoveries or simple fascinations.

To this end, photography is an equal to my other endeavors of importance. As such I do expend energy and effort on my work and invest in it. My gear has grown to encompass several new items. Here's the new line-up:

Philisophically, I treat this site as a I do a sketchbook. I put many things there for consideration, trial, error, experimentation. Not all of these sketches turn out to be fine art. Some do. Some are simply exercizes in technical capability. I do pick what interests me, but for the most part I try not to censor my work to only the "good stuff". It's hard since this is a highly visible forum and this approach can easily be misconstrued by the more egocentric and egotistical folks on flickr. If you fall into this category, no offense, but I really have no time for you.

I am not a brand nor a professional in this media. Don't get me wrong though, I love good work and actively seek it out. But the reality is that I'm here on flickr to have fun, find friends with mutual interest in the media, provide insight to others, and gain insight from them. And MOST importantly, PLAY!

You may have noticed that I use the word “I” a bunch. Yes this is a statement about me after all. However, I like to use it to indicate the sense of responsibility I take in my work. I believe that an individual life fully explored brings meaning to us all. Photography is a vehicle and media with which to express this. Your lucid moment becomes my lucid moment. My lucid moment becomes yours. We grow together if we cultivate and grow ourselves.

Thanks everyone for all the great comments!
