The Long Island Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 1945 by Catholic lay men and women who seek in a spirit of justice and charity to help the poor, the needy and the disadvantaged through practical works of charity. With the help of more than 1,000 volunteers, we accomplish our mission through person-to-person involvement, providing emergency assistance, material aid, emotional support or spiritual comfort, in an effort to resolve an immediate crisis, to promote self-sufficiency and ultimately, to enable people to help themselves.

What sets us apart from other social service agencies on the island is our commitment to providing comprehensive care to all units of a family. We are the only organization on Long Island to provide personal and private assistance through home visits. As an organization, we advocate on behalf of the poor. We seek to discover the root causes of poverty and to remedy its effects. We do not discriminate based race, religion, or background.
