It may seem weird to say that music is more important to me than pictures on an image hosting web page. Songs can become tied to moments and/or people of your life. These feelings can be so powerful that hearing a certain song can put you back in that moment. That's not always a good thing, they are often tied to pain, or remind you of that person.

When you are being creative you are creating new neural pathways and alter existing ones in order to adapt to new experiences.

I found when I take a song that has a bad memory associated with it that I want to change. I can add that song to my creative process. I usually play the song on repeat (repetition is key) while I am setting up for, taking the picture, getting it ready to post and for a little bit of time after I post it. The overwhelmingly positive responses I get for what I post here also get new neural pathways that are now associated with the song.

I know I have successfully reprogrammed my brain, because now I think of the picture I made, and responses I get, when I hear the song instead of past pain that used to be associated with it.

In this way I have taken this song back and reclaimed it for myself, instead of letting it drag me through the past and unpleasant memories. I'm not saying every picture I post with music is a bad memory I need to purge. Sometimes I just like a good song=^.^=
