Hey, friends, my computer crashed! While I figure out what the hell I'm going to do about it there will be no new posts from me. :( Thank goodness my photos are on external drive!
I have decided that it is time I updated my profile. In fact, that first letter "I" is all I've kept of my original description. When I first joined Flickr I was doing a lot of landscape photography and capturing images from around my home in the Florida Keys. I have since moved to Northern Arizona and have undergone a significant shift in subject matter.
These days I am entirely obsessed with photographing my little collection of Blythe dolls. Their ever-changing eyes and expressive faces have provided hours of endless variety. Every day is a new adventure, a new opportunity to catch them in some humorous situation. I draw enormous enjoyment from peering inside their dolly world, to the point where I believe most of my 'serious' contacts have abandoned me. They don't leave me comments anymore. :) Oh well. No matter! I have a bazillion new dolly friends who make me laugh and smile every day with their gorgeous dollies' uproarious antics and quiet moments. These photos delight and entertain me more than the millionth fiery sunset or ultimate HDR explosion. I think it is largely because photos of Blythe reflect the landscape within. Every day I learn more about the minds, hearts, and personalities of my dolly contacts through their beautiful girls. I am enjoying not only the lovely light, subjects, and colors of my friends' photos, but their expressions of themselves through these slightly unlikely little gals.
Lots of people are frightened or weirded out by Blythe and think I am nutty for playing with dolls. I really don't care. It is so wonderful to have another hobby that I enjoy and can share with a group of kind, creative people. For those who are intrigued and would like to learn more about Blythe, I suggested starting where I started: www.thisisblythe.com. You might just fall in love too!
To all my dear Flickr friends and contacts: Thank you all so much for being patient with my on-again-off-again commenting. The kind of work that I do is demanding and sometimes endless, and at times it leaves me very little time for my family, friends, and hobbies. I'm around as much as I can be, and it's always so good to see your lovely photos when I'm here. I always try to leave personalized comments and to call you by name when I know it, but sometimes I get super busy and just stop by quickly. Please don't take it personally. I love you all!
