I'm a not-so-typical Mom with a camera in New York's Hudson Valley.

I grew up in and spent most of my life in New York City, and I try to see the gorgeous rural area I live in new with the same fresh eyes I had when I moved up here. It's too easy to lose sight of the beauty around us.

Life isn't always easy, and I like to use my camera to find joy in each day. I am also fascinated by the way a camera can take something mundane or something disturbing and turn it into a fairytale.

You can also find me:

- on Tumblr

- on Facebook

- posting every other week on Every Second Sunday on Film

- as a member of The Film Shooters Collective

My work has been featured

- on blogs such as Pioneer Woman, Shutter Sisters, Mortal Muses, and Everyday Moments

- in The Chatham Press

- in NYLON Korea March 2013

- in The D-Photo

The negative stuff, and only because flickr can get overwhelming sometimes. If everything here was wine and roses, I wouldn't have to say this:

Reasons I might block you:

- I don't know you personally AND

- you add me as a contact or fave a photo of mine and you don't have an avatar pic or any photos in your stream

- the photos in your stream or your favorites make me uncomfortable

- your comments make me uncomfortable

- you forward me your own photos for self-promotion

- you post your own photos under my photos for self-promotion

Also, I do not join award groups or groups that require me to comment on others' photos, and I'd prefer not to be invited.

Sometimes just commenting on someone's stream just isn't enough. i have been following SuperDewa for over a year (her umbrella photo that was once her icon is still my imbedded image of her). Sometimes just commenting on someone's stream just isn't enough. i have been following SuperDewa for over a year (her umbrella photo that was once her icon is still my imbedded image of her). Her talent, descriptions, 365 and NYC roots have created a bond with me that really can't be broken. I was finally moved to leave a testimonial because that reverse macro lens trick ...is driving me to utter awe. Please teach me! Or I am going to plop down the money and get the real thing. Follow Deirdre...you must!

I am not very good praising others or writing testimonials. But this time I felt an urge to write something about this lady with superb control over her photo gears. I have learned a lot from her flickr photostream including viewing angles for some shots (early worm seeing the tower), making lovely people and other bokeh shots etc. She is the only one in Flickr whose photostream I visit everyday. And I respect her mental strength and attitude to face the odds. I don't know her personally (infact, don't know her real name), but she is a source of inspiration for me.

i met deirdre in an online photo workshop earlier this year. We soon found one another on flickr, and I've been following her stream ever since. Not only is her work incredibly beautiful, but she, herself, is one of the kindest, warmest people I've come into contact with on flickr. Her work is diverse, technically superb, humorous and most of all inspiring. Not only will you learn something new, whether it be about small town life in upstate New York or the trials and tribulations of a 365, but you'll find yourself joining all kinds of fun flickr "groups" so you can play along too! I promise once you immerse yourself in SuperDewa's world, she will keep you coming back for more!

Superdewas photostream is one of the few I check out every day and every day I hope for a new image to inspire me. Her use of colors is amazing and she truly has a great eye for the beautiful things in the everyday life.

Every time I take a trip to her site I am just blown away. The colors, the perspectives, everything is just so fabulous. She is truly a talent and her stream is a real joy to browse through. I don't have as much time as I would like to browse many of my contacts streams, but superdewa's stream is a must. Excellent!
