For Dennis, photography has been a lifetime passion and a skill he has developed and honed for over 50 years. Dennis travels around the world shooting unforgettable photographs of landscapes and cultures, two themes which are the focus of his fine art photography style. His images often reflect an effort to capture a sense of serenity and provide an interpretation of his feelings and emotions.
Dennis believes that a camera is to photographer as a brush is to a painter. While good quality cameras and lenses serve as an aid to creativity; the art is created by the soul behind the camera. For the last four decades, Dennis has owned Nikon cameras and now uses a Nikon Digital SLR with his original,
hand-crafted Nikon lenses. He also uses the compact Lumix GF series.
Beginning with film, Dennis worked with the Cibachrome darkroom technique to make prints directly from their slides. Today, he shoots digital photos, post-processing them on a Mac with Adobe Photoshop and having fun without touching chemicals.
When not traveling, Dennis lives on the Big Island of Hawaii, focusing on his surroundings and capturing the beauty of Paradise, whether often seen by tourists or never seen by anyone, even the natives themselves.
Dennis puts many of his better photographs on his Flickr website and welcomes comments of any kind, which he believes can help him learn from others. Commercial use of his photography is not permitted unless granted by him through a separate agreement.
