Welcome to my photostream.

I have largely been inactive on Flickr for the last few years as my painting has taken a back seat to photography and like many others graduated over to Facebook and Instagram. I hope to continue posting here again in the near future, Thanks, Sue July 2019

I often use the landscape around me as the starting point to my work and work in a variety of mediums. I overlay line work in pen or pencil with vibrant solid colours of watercolour or acrylic paint to create fresh, lively expressive and often abstract paintings, which are usually completed in one session.

One of the most exciting developments in my art work for 2010 has been my involvement in 'Julia Kay's Portrait Party' where artists paint or draw each other from photographs posted to the group.

Although one can clearly see the influence of Piper, Hitchens and perhaps Hodgkin, these are not pastiches but really good works in their own right. I look forward to seeing more. It is rare to find such consistently good fine art of this type on Flickr and I'm sure this work deserves attention. A real feel for places and their abstract qualities.
