I love wild and empty places.
I love simple and beautiful things.
I have been taking photos since I was about 9 years old.
I use both film and digital cameras.
I sometimes keep notes on my film development.
That's all really.

beautiful. dreamy. windswept. moody. feral. atmospheric. epic. there are so many words i could use to describe sue's photos...but none of them would do them justice. she lives in a beautiful place, but it's more than that. lots of people live in beautiful places, but they don't have the raw power and ability to bring it to life the way that sue does. she's one of the most innovative and talented photographers i've encountered, period. i also love her collection of 'arranged' images...her eye for things that should go together is always spot on. i have her print "mountain ghosts", hanging in my room, and i never grow tired of it. so glad i found her stream and get to be inspired by her work on a regular basis.

Where do I start? I first noticed Sue's pinhole work and was immediately drawn to the wild, dreamy worlds that she created with pinhole. Since then I've also found myself infatuated with her still life images and in love with her medium format work. She takes ordinary objects and makes them feel alive - her photographs very carefully showcase texture, color and form. I adore her general color palette of greens and blues, browns and greys. I find that her profile, though small in words, speaks to the heart of me - wild and empty places, simple and beautiful things. I feel very lucky that Sue is on Flickr and I know her work will continue to inspire myself and others.

It seems to me that Sue has a certain way of observing the small contrasts of the world that gives her photography something very special, something beyond simply being enjoyable. A delicate flower on a thorny bush; a feather and a stone; a curious still life that sparks the imagination and takes us to a land of stories and dreams. Sometimes these ideas are presented to us in a very deliberate way and other times they are there for us to discover for ourselves. Sue says she takes photos because it makes her happy. Funny that... that's why I always find myself drawn back to her photostream - just because it makes me happy. :)

Can you tell I'm a big fan of her work? :-) Thank you for showing us your excellent work here on flickr, Sue!
