The Unifor Skilled Trades Union Education Program is a week-long residential course held at the Unifor Education Centre in Port Elgin, Ontario. Skilled workers from Unifor plants take a broad range of courses covering history, bargaining gains, technological change, the environment, media, organizing, politics, and industry developments; while enjoying the resort-like facility in their off-hours. The program is a negotiated benefit, so the entire cost is covered out of the negotiated fund, including lost time, accomodation and meals, and travel costs.
