Jamil-Kareem Jones AKA; Jay Kay is an African American Fashion Photographer and Professional Photojournalist. Jamil was born and raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and after honorably completing his service in the US Army. He relocated his family to a quite New Orleans suburb.

 

Growing up in single parent house hold in inner-city Philadelphia, Jamil-Kareem was introduced to photography by a mentor and a long time family friend (The Late Theodore Moody) and shown how to use photography as a way of self expression.

Since this time Jamil-Kareem has developed a passion for Commercial and Fashion aspects as photography. Along with his music (Which Jamil-Kareem is a also a professional Guitar Player) He uses his photography as a form as self expression.

 

“I love photography for it allows me to express the way I see the world and tell her story, both good and bad, It often amazes me how photography freezes a single moment in time and from that frame there are so many stories that could be told from”.

 

Photography literally means in the ancient Greek language “Writer of light” whereas, Jamil-Kareem will always consider himself a lifetime student of this art.
