Welcome to my Flickr page. My work reflects my long involvement with the surrealist movement and in particular the 'realist' mode of photography within surrealism as opposed to the imagery created in the darkroom, typified by the work of Man Ray. Although I love Man Ray's work I find the challenge of finding surreality, the marvellous, within the everyday the greatest, most thrilling challange.

People who know about such things will recognise in my work the influence of Emila Medkova, Vilem Reichmann and other Czech surrealist photographers, who have also influenced many other surrealists of my generation.

I don't regard these works as art, but as documentation of the marvellous embedded within the real and everyday. I never know when or where I will find these images, I have to go hunting and involve myself in a kind of subliminal scanning of things, surfaces, signs. The images are presented as closely as possible to the way they are found, they are cropped to give emphasis to what is being presented, slight changes to exposure and so on, but otherwise they are as close as I can get to a vision of reality that is thoroughly haunted.
