I just became acquainted with stoneth's pictures within the past five minutes, and have never felt compelled to write a testimonial in such a short time. His pictures register in my brain via the solar plexus, and, like Billie Holiday's painful songs, it helps if you are in the proper frame of mind. Billie has no peer and if you are not anchored you will wind up touched with despondency. Like Billie, stoneth not only shakes one's conscience, he stirs it as well. His camera is nothing less than a sociological probe into the lives of the people we'd rather not see, often people who another class would describe as the wretched of the earth. He gets close to the people that most people wouldn't want to get close to. And one has to stop and wonder how much difference the billions being spent on the illegal, immoral war in Iraq could do for the forgotten, here at home. stoneth pictures represent the faces that the nation would rather not see ... the faces of the forgotten. And if we take the time to smell the flowers, we must also stop and pay attention to these people.

Everytime he writes, " I walked by...or went back...or sat down next to...or smiled at " it fills my heart that he takes the time to not only notice these people, which many of us ignore, but he makes them feel important and cared for, as they should! This could be any one of our loved ones.....someday or now...you never know just what life may throw at you... Stoneth, I have yet to comment on a single photograph of yours; the reason: I am overcome with awe and rendered speechless by your images and, especially, the accompanying stories. Your work as a photographer is tremendous, but it is your compassion and the grace with which you go about your work that is inspirational and humbling at the same time. You present your "subjects" with the dignity and respect that they deserve, and provide the world with an honest and straightforward glimpse into the lives of those that often remain unnoticed or misunderstood. I thank you, sincerely, for sharing your gift with us and for your humanism.

Thank you for adding me as a contact because that gave me a chance to see your work which in other situations may have gotten lost in the clutter of pages here. The photographs made me feel real sense of unfairness i this world. While some people are partying there are others who have no food. While others live in nice comfortable homes some have never had the luxury of that. And while some have friends, others dont. And all this in the same town. I reckon if all those people who were at the parties were swapped with the street people the same might result: the new party folk would carry on partying till the wee hours never ever thinking about the conditions of some less fortunate people. This exemplifies the state of the human condition. As a photographer myself, I feel that you have committed silent justice by photographing the homeless. Your photos convey such strong emotion. It is my hope that yur pictures shall one day be the catalyst of change. No person deserves to sleep in the streets. We are all entitled to some love and affection and a place, no matter how small, to call home.
