Steve has a BA in Art History from University of Michigan-Dearborn and an MA in Art Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia. Steven has had several one-act plays produced by 24-Hour Theatre and curated a month-long exhibition for the Rockaway Artists Alliance in Fort Tilden, Queens. He currently writes a regular column for Revue Magazine. His photos have been published in most of the publications in Grand Rapids. His photos have been used on blogs around the world.

Steve currently lives in a 1913 house in the Fairmount Square District of the core city of Grand Rapids. He previously lived in the diverse neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens New York City for over a decade. His daughter lives in Manhattan and is working and going to graduate school. She graduated from Bennett College, which is an all-female Historically Black College in Greensboro, NC.
