I wanted to expand my mind and fill my retirement years with a hobby which is rewarding.

I purchased an entry level Canon DSLR camera and lens, signed up for some photography courses at Southend Adult Community College, and was very fortunate to have Clarissa Debenham as my tutor.

Photography is such a fascinating subject, one that continues to stretch my limited intellect, I have often explained Clarissa changed my outlook on life for ever.

I have since obtained a substantial amount of photography equipment, which I am learning to use with the help of all our Flickr friends.

My friend Simon, Peter, Adam and my daughter Helen set up the Wakering Photography Group over 11 years ago, we are an active group and meet in our local Royal British Legion Club.

We have thirty plus local members, who all have different abilities and preferences which enriches the experience immensely.

Flickr is very rewarding, I have been very fortunate to have made some wonderful friends all over the world since joining in 2011, the love of photography has brought us together, long may it continue.
