I have travelled extensively in Europe, the USA & Africa and am now resident in Germany.

A professional aeronautical engineer by training, I started out in research before moving into IT and ran my own IT consulting company until retirement.

My passion is motorcycling, both on- & off-road. I started with a Honda C50, a non-runner pushed home from the local stables. That funded a Triumph Sports Cub, then a Tiger 650 once I passed my test. I've ridden mainly BMWs for over 30 years now, starting with an R60/7 in 1984, much-loved but ill-fated R100RS and, since 2009 GS Adventures. I picked up my current R1250 in June 2019.

I love to spend time exploring by motorcycle, mountain bike & hiking and have taken up paragliding, working towards my IPPL level 4.
