Drag to set position!
Much of my work concentrates on the landscape and architecture, and I have a strong interest in mans impact on the world we live in. Many of my images are taken in industrial and urban areas that have now been abandoned. The way nature reclaims these once industrial areas fascinates and presents me with a wealth of subjects matter.
By choice I work in black and white and with medium or large format film and digital cameras. The Hasselblad is the tool of choice for most of my photography. I have used the Hasselbald system for much of the past 30 years and find these simple high quality cameras do most of what I need for my personal work.
In recent years I have experimented with more colour in my work with some pleasing results. I am happy to use colour if its right for the image, but I like to show the world in a more abstract way and I find black and white photography lets me show the world in the way I see it.
For my own photography I have no need for speed and do what I can to slow down the photographic process. I often work with pinhole and home made cameras and take many of my images in the hours of darkness. Long exposures are very much a part of my world. I love the idea of capturing the passage of time in a single image.
I relish the whole process of film photography and still develop my own film and find the darkroom process gives me so much more pleasure and sense of satisfaction than the digital process. However I embraced digital photography for much of my commercial work many years ago and love to explore and introduce any new technique to my photography.
Sharing my love of photography with others has long been a passion of mine and for the past 10 years I offered limited photography workshops and individual One 2 One tuition covering all aspects of photography full details of my training and workshops can be found at
