I am a 50-something Canadian living in the Great Lakes region of Ontario. I grew up watching my father take photos and explaining some of the basics of photography like composing a shot. I have always looked for 'shots' and, when a camera was nearby, would try to capture these moments. With the advent of cameras on phones, I found I could attempt to capture more of those moments that I walked through. I recently bought an entry level DSLR camera and started playing with shutter and aperture settings to create different effects. I like long exposure night-time photos and will likely play around more with that when I retire and have a little more time and flexibility to plan shots. I also bought a small app for my phone that will allow me to really plan shots from certain places, at certain times of the day, and with specific features in the sky. I am looking forward to the challenge of becoming better at capturing what I see around me.
