In December 2010, I upgraded to a Sony Alpha 550. Previously I used a Sony Alpha 100 after many years of using a Konica Minolta 35 mm film camera. I bought the Sony so that I could use the lenses and other accessories that I already had.
I live just outside Leicester and most of my photographs are taken in Leicestershire and the surrounding counties. I have set up a group for photographs of Thurmaston which is the village in which I live.
I completed Project 365 on December 28th 2008. On April 1st 2011, I started again. This time I am using a Motorola Defy smartphone running the Vignette app. I have set Vignette to square format but apart from that I use it on random. I am as surprised as anyone by some of the results. The photographs produced by this combination are in the spirit of lomography. It is much easier to keep up with taking a photograph each day using a mobile phone than it was when I moslty used by DSLR.
I currently put one photo a day into the Daily Post group. This is less pressured as the photograph does not have to have been taken on the day that it is posted.
In August 2010, I began a project to scan my large collection of 35mm negatives. These date from about 1980 to about 2006 when I started using a digital SLR. I have no idea how many negatives I have but it must be well over a thousand. Scanning them will take a long time. The negatives are not catalogued and so I do not know what many of them are photographs of or when they were taken. This is going to be a journey of discovery for me!
