I started out at 11 when Mum gave me her old Brownie camera for a school camping trip to Wales.
At University De Montfort I studied graphic design and photography and spent hours in darkrooms with sulphuric chemicals.
After a brief freelance career as a photographer, I sold all my SLR gear to fund somewhere to live in London and began a new career in charity management which has occupied me for 20 years.
After becoming a Dad, I creatively documented home life for a few years (these are all 35mm slides, so some day I'll have to figure out how to digitize all that).
More recently, I have found a second wave of inspiration thanks to digital cameras. A couple of colleagues at work pointed me towards Flickr. I'm stunned how quick and easy it is to take a photo, edit it, store it, attached captions. What used to take hours ("when I were a lad", etc,) now takes just a few minutes.
I like playing around with different styles - from straight photojournalism to totally abstract images. I enjoy creative writing as much as photography, so try to be evocative with my captions too.
