Over the past year or so, since I first talked with Steve, I have been treated to his excellent guidance in my quest to improve my skills. Steve has never failed to provide superb aide as I have made my way through a mass of trepidations about understanding not only the art of photography but of my camera as a piece of equipment. He has never considered a question too trivial, and has always responded with respect for my intelligence and embrace of my anxieties as I set about conquering my fears of, in the early days, pushing a button that I was afraid would "yell" back at me. In recent times, Steve has inspired me to gain confidence in not only my equipment, but in my skills as a photographer. He is a magnificent teacher, but I could probably have learned the lessons he has taught me if I had set about reading countless books, viewing many videos, and taken a few courses at a local college. In doing so, however, I would not have been awarded an even greater gift. Those of you who know Steve as a photographer have already attested to his talents. However, all would be gifted in learning that he is a person of remarkable quality of character. He is so accomplished in his craft, but, and I think more importantly, an artist of deep humility and a genuine individual who cares so fervently for others. What a talent. I congratulate you, Steve, for all that you are. Gary

Respect is something I covet ….and there are many I respect on flickr, as integrity, and those that value performance, sincerity, and honor, stand out and are important to me as I truly love photography …….and the pursuit of getting the best shot that I can. Steve falls into this realm too, and has been a flickr friend of mine for a while and even though I have not conversed with him on a detailed level before today, or a consistent one on flickr, I certainly have seen his work, and recognized his efforts as a wonderful photographer, and as an honest soul and I got the sense ( during our telephone conversation ) that he is what he is and was most pleased to have a affirmation of a genuine gesture to raise the bar for many of us who strive to shoot well. Steve is forthright, straight, and seems to be and in control, an accurate person of gauge and accuracy in expression; It shows in his work that I have seen, and now in his banter that I have enjoyed in real life. I was pleased to get a call from Steve as I just sent him my number and within 5 minutes my cell rang and I was impressed not only with how fast he responded but it was obvious Steve is the type of guy who strives to elevate photography with his site “ Birdings Best Photographers” and I am excited in his attempt to create a upper echelon site of high regard………… as it is a tall undertaking and one which is a thankless one too……….. except for the odd thanks and participation of some which makes him a passionate, unselfish creator of what he enjoys. Further, after my initial, and first live conversation, I felt my gauge was so dead on especially the no nonsense which is what I am used to in my daily life at work so it was a bit of a pleasant surprise that I was dealing with somebody very much like myself. Thanks for the new group Steve, as it is a smart way of bringing another level of photography to be proud of, and belong to. Further; thank you for the dedication and for the comments I have continually received from you for a long time now on my work that I have posted . There is certainly a reason why you are part of my 100 friends and “that club” is one of the hardest groups to belong to lolololololo……and I appreciate the friendship, the candor, and the integrity which is evident in the banter as well as your photography; which is not only amazing in capture, but you understand light, bokeh, and the entire scenario of achieving the picture which looks natural and that is non – fatiguing. Photography that is “Great” is not a simple undertaking, and not only is your work of that level, but striving to make a home for the betterment of it, and creating a place for those whose commitment is severe is appreciated, as it gives credence to our disease of getting it as goods we can ( even though we are never satisfied). Thank you for creating this new site “ Birdings Best Photographers” to honor the hard work of many trying to achieve the best we are capable of as we strive and compete within ourselves to always try to do better …………..Howard
