I work in development studies (international development) and live in Brighton, UK.

If you want to use my photos I'm honoured but please let me know and acknowledge.

I'm fairly new to this, but really enjoying documenting things which interest me or I just find beautiful to look at...

I also love the surreal, humorous or quirky, which I think there is a lot of in this world if we care to look...

I think the world, including the human imagination, is an amazing place. I'm fascinated by the way that people live, the choices they make. I admire compassion, empathy, open-mindedness, and the ability to accept that we aren't always right. I believe everyone has the right to pleasure, happiness, and respect.

In the words of the Russell-Einstein Manifesto:

There lies before us, if we choose, continual progress in happiness, knowledge and wisdom. Shall we, instead, choose death, because we cannot forget our quarrels? We appeal, as human beings, to human beings: Remember your humanity, and forget the rest. If you can do so, the way lies open to a new Paradise; if you cannot, there lies before you the risk of universal death.

Serious stuff eh? Take a look at great interviews with Joseph Rotblat here (proof that you can suffer terrible personal hardship but still live a life filled with integrity, intelligence, humour, and love for others).

Whatever precautions you take so the photograph will look like this or that, there comes a moment when the photograph surprises you. It is the other's gaze that wins out and decides. (Jacques Derrida).

There are some photostreams that knock you down with their technical brilliance. There are others that are just snaps. But what makes a great collection? It is neither of the above, but it is the ability to give the viewer a glimpse into the mind and world of the photographer. Steph gives us just that. I have not met her, but somehow I know we share a quirky view on life that the Daily Mail and the 'herd' would not share Oh and the seafood! Go for it Steph and keep the images coming. Great fun.
