Ferdinando Scianna:

"A photograph is not created by a photographer. What they do is just to open a little window and capture it. The world then writes itself on the film. The act of the photographer is closer to reading than it is to writing. They are the readers of the world."

Jonathan Richman:

"Look but, if these guys, if they're really so great,

tell me, why can't they at least take this place

and take it straight?"

Lee Friedlander:

"I only wanted Uncle Vernon standing by his own car (a Hudson) on a clear day, I got him and the car. I also got a bit of Aunt Mary’s laundry and Beau Jack, the dog, peeing on the fence, and a row of potted tuberous begonias on the porch and 78 trees and a million pebbles in the driveway and more. It’s a generous medium, photography."

Stefán lives on a magical planet called Iceland where he travels around daily to capture his ever changing surroundings. Stefán, it appears, has the power to pull color out of the starkest landscapes, transforming them into some for of blissful hyper-reality. Mundane objects such as buildings and useless machinery turn into abstract works of art and minimalistic fields of color when his lens is aimed their way. Besides still-life, the street photography of the Metropolises of Iceland and Earth (when he chooses to travel here) are truly something to be noted. With being so well rounded, well equipped and from another planet, Stefán still is a good 'down to earth' photographer. And of course, a great source of inspiration and constant healthy competition.

Seeing something that may not look interesting in real life and be able to visualize it as an interesting photograph is sometimes very hard to do, but Stefan makes it work over and over again.

Stefan's stream is a real joy to visit. He is a master at landscape photography and he has a really good eye for street photography. Everything seems to have a certain symmetry to it. His images are also very natural, you are not going to see a flying pig or a giant pink fist up in the air, actually you will see the fist:-) but that is what makes his images so interesting. I visit his stream every time I log on to flickr, just because I really enjoy his images and the conversations they spark.

Though living in a place that probably rather encourages you to take pictures of volcans and glaciers than to be a street photographer, Stefan manages to show us the less familiar streets of Reykjavik as well as the incredible beauty of icelandic nature. Not to forget the lighthouses! But as diversified as his subjects are, the results share the quality ensured by his keen sense of composition. So, expect nothing less than to be entertained by great pictures and immerse yourself in a stream that's always worth a visit!

Everyday, he will give you a tour of his beautiful hometown. He give you the history about them and have a big discussion about it. The only thing that you will be missing from this is a cup of hot chocolate to go with your grand tour. It's like having a tour guide of Iceland...without the frostbite :)

I love the personality that emanates from Stefan's photography. His reasoning is inquiring, his eye is alert and his mind is roaming. Moreover, you never know what will be the picture of the day: a great landscape, a candid shot or a tagger cat :)) I love sharing his impressions and his outings !
