Motivation

I simply enjoy taking pictures, I like to travel and as a Physical Geographer landscapes & nature are my profession. In most cases my pictures are snaphots, without the time (and chance) for being twice at the same place. So, I try to make the best out of the moment, but hopefully I will have the chance to be there twice to make better pictures...

Equipment

Starting in analogue times with the first commercial AF-camera -the Minolta 7000-, I made my first experiences in digital photography with the Minolta Dimage A1 and I was a glad owner of the Olympus C8080WZ in the early digital times for a while. Then I stepped to my beloved Canon 40D. Due to the increasing claims of quality, I bought a second hand full-frame Canon 5D Mark II and it was my personel highlight for a while. But this meant increasing costs for equipment and weight. With my familiy on several vacations in the Alps, I decided after a lot of pain, that quality is nice, but relative. So, I became an owner of a Canon Rebel SL2 (200D), a comfortable small and lightweighted APS-C camera (back again), so that I was able to use all my lenses ever buyed as a reasonable compromise of quality and handling. In addition, I bought a second-hand Panasonic G80/81/85 - just for fun. The camera is full of electronic features, that I have missed in the (payable) Canon system until I bought me the Canon RP: a comfortable, payable, small and lightweighted full-frame camera (back again) including such a technical progress compared to my beloved 5DM2. But it was only a short common time of enthusiasm and satisfaction: all cameras, except the Panasonic, are lost in my basement due to the flood event of the 14th of July 2021, which impacted western Germany. For a couple of months, I tried my best with the remaining mft-camera, but increasingly missing performance and quality. Price-performance was the arguement for a new full-format-decision: Canon again or Sony or yet Nikon...? A difficult trade-off!
