Christian Stefaner-Schmid
Drag to set position!
In his acoustic and visual productions, Christian Stefaner-Schmid deals with the electronic, physical, and mathematical foundations for the musical automatization of sound patterns. On a visual level, he dedicates himself to investigating the representation of zombies as individual and mass phenomena. Background is the artist's longterm interest in zombies (p-zombie), as well as in the constructivist concept of trivial and non-trivial machines, which was introduced in the 1970s by the Austrian physicist Heinz von Foerster (1911–2002) based on ideas developed by the British mathematician Alan Turing (1912–1954), one of the most important co-founders of modern information and computer theory. (andrei siclodi, 2008)
Starting with the exhibition "do trivial machines dream non-trivial dreams" 2008, Stefaner-Schmid works on depicting scenarios, THOUGHT EXPERIMENTS, THEOREMS, PARADOXES, IDEAS and MINDGAMES related to topics such as THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF MACHINES, MACHINES AS EMBODIMENT OF PROJECTIVE IDENTIFICATION, PSEUDO-INTELLIGENCE, LOGIC.
