A little notice...

Well, it's out with 2006 (from my point of view one of the finest years ever - see this pic), in with 2007!

Looking backward, thanks to all the nice people I've come into contact with on Flickr over the last year. You're all very lovely. Having got a fab gorillapod* for Christmas I'm looking forward to taking all manner of photos from unusual locations. I'll see how it goes. :)

Exciting bits of news (slightly old now, but still exciting)

Well, I had a great parcel arrive through the door a little while ago - two copies of a book which includes one of my photos!

The book is "In St Patrick's Footsteps" available on Amazon, and published by Appletree Press. The photo that is included in it is "The Benediction of Saint Patrick".

Anyway, thanks to John at Appletree for e-mailing me to request use of the picture (glad to help) - and thanks for the books in return! :)

A bit of background

I've always liked trying to take nice landscape photos, (as well as holiday snaps). But until Flickr, there wasn't really any outlet for these types of photos. It's really given a fun reason to keep on clicking. The Flickr community is great.

Anyway, I joined Flickr in May 2005, and uploaded a few old scans of holiday landscapes, which were never viewed by anyone! :) Not surprising really, since I didn't do anything else on Flickr for a few months.

I finally got myself a digital camera in August 2005, and started being able to organise and use the photos on my PC.

Then at the start of September 2005, I won a Flickr pro account as a prize in a photo competition at work (I was a runner up - top prize was a digital camera). Since then I've started taking more and more of an interest in photography and have certainly caught the Flickr bug. This has infected everybody in the house (apart from the cats, who are occasional subjects).
